Recycled Atomic Lamp

Regular price £185.00 Sale

Artisan designed, bespoke homewares. Recycled. Biodegradable. Sustainable.

The recycled materials come from the waste fruit punnets of Belgian farmers. These are processed, dyed and made into reels of filament by our materials supplier: Reflow. The reels are used by our 3D printers to melt the plastic and reform it into our designs. This material is fully biodegradable PLA, it can be recycled again or hot composted to quickly return the corn-based plastic back to nature.

Bioplastic is a sustainable and carbon-negative solution to our reliance on fossil fuels to provide plastics. Waste biomass from the production of corn, cassava or sugar is fermented into Lactic Acid. When condensed in the presence of a tin based catalyst, and the water removed, it forms a “plastic” known as PolyLactic Acid, or PLA. This process is also reversible which means that PLA can be recycled into virgin PLA indefinitely, and is the best method of disposal. PLA can also be industrially hot-composted.

Transport yourself to the Atomic Era aesthetics of the 1950s with our Atomic Lamp, featuring retro colour tones and playful shapes inspired by diner lamps of the era. This design is Bubblegum Pink.

Comes with a silver crown 7.2W Philips LED to create the perfect glow, please only use LEDs in these lamps as they are heat sensitive!

The shade is made with our recycled biodegradable bioplastic and is a combination of our porcelain-like opaque material and our stained glass-like semi transparent material. Combined in 3 layers to give a beautiful glow when lit and a colour contrast when off.

The base is made of a chrome effect brushed steel with an E27 bulb fitting.
